Memorial Day 2017

Sunday May 28th at the 10:15 service remembered our war heroes. The service included bios of the 7 young men who died during World War 1 from our congregation read by young men of the parish. We were honored to have Mayor Robert Jackson of Montclair, Mr. John Garde, President of the Trustees of the Episcopal Diocese of Newark, Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Roughneen from the New Jersey Bar Association's Military Law Division and Mr. Michael Pasquale the founder of Officers of the Cours, a 501c3 free legal service for military personnel as our distinguished guests. Stewardship at St. James

St. James kicked off its annual Stewardship Drive with a wonderful event in the Parish hall on Sunday October 18th.  View

Rummage Sale a Success!

From 5 rooms in the basement to a church full of items for sale to a beautiful day outside the Youth Group has another successful Fall fundraiser, raising $2000 for their summer Mission Trip 2016!  View

Newcomers Brunch

St. James welcomed its most recent members with a festive brunch on Sunday September 27 at the rectory.  View

St. James Players

On Sept 12th & 13th, the St. James Players put on two rousing performances of William Shakespeare's Taming of the the Shrew. The truope was formed in 2011 as part of the church's community outreach mission.  Each summer, they bring to life a work of Shakespeare for contemporary audiences.  View

Youth Mission Trip

On Sunday, June 28, a youth group from St. James ventured out to Virginia beach for our annual mission trip. During the week, these teens were able to meet some new wonderful people as well as learn about the wonder of helping others in desperate need of assistance. In their off time, the group made sure to keep a blog going so as to inform others of their experiences both on and off the work site. View

Food Drive at St. James

On Saturday, April 25, dozens of volunteers from St. James stood outside of three locations: A&P on Valey Road, King's on Valley Road, and Shop Rite of Brookdale. They collected 300 bags of groceries for the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, enough food to fill the Parish Hall: View

Good Friday at St. James

The children of St. James acted out the Stations of the Cross during an intimate and moving service on the morning of Good Friday. Led by Rev Melissa, the children walked through the stations, which were set up thbroughout the sanctuary, and learned first-hand of the suffering of Jesus before Pilate, from the crown of thorns to the mocking and torturing, from the carrying of the heavy cross to the crucifixion.  View

Palm Sunday at St. James
